Mkomazi National Park is one of Tanzania's lesser-visited but genuinely spectacular wildlife reserves, bordering Kenya's Tsavo West National Park and forming part of one of East Africa's largest protected ecosystems. The park's semi-arid landscape — vast open plains, dry riverbeds and acacia woodland — creates a hauntingly beautiful scenery unlike the more visited parks of northern Tanzania.

Mkomazi is particularly famous for its successful black rhino sanctuary and wild dog conservation programme. Visitors may encounter elephants, giraffes, impalas, lesser kudu, gerenuk, and an extraordinary variety of dry-land birds. Because visitor numbers are low, the experience is intimate and undisturbed — you will often have large sections of the park entirely to yourselves. This is wildlife tourism as it should be: authentic, unhurried, and deeply rewarding.
